Apogee Strengthens Management Team and Board of Directors

Toronto, Ontario, November 16, 2004: Apogee Minerals Ltd. (TSXV: APE) is pleased to announce that it has strengthened its board of directors through the addition of John Carlesso, Bruce Humphrey and James Hesketh. The board has accepted the resignations of Terry Fields, who will continue to act as a consultant to the Company, and Tony Wonnacott, who will continue as the Company’s Corporate Secretary.

Mr. John Carlesso, who was also appointed as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, is a senior executive with over 15 years of international business and financial markets experience. He currently serves as Vice President, Corporate Development of Desert Sun Mining Corp., a gold mining and exploration company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange. Previously, he was the President of Street Coverage Inc. a private company providing capital markets, corporate finance, and strategic marketing advice to growth-oriented companies, both public and private, across a broad range of sectors. He has also held positions in the Institutional and Private Client divisions at some of Canada’s largest investment dealers. Mr. Carlesso holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Western Ontario.

Mr. Bruce Humphrey is a mining engineer with over 30 years experience in the mining industry. Since October 2004, he has served as President and C.E.O. of Desert Sun Mining Corp., a gold mining and exploration company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange. From May 1998 to May 2004, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Goldcorp Inc., where his responsibilities included the re-development, start-up and operation of the high grade Red Lake Mine, the Exploration Group, and Goldcorp’s operations in South Dakota and Saskatchewan. He has also worked for several major mining companies and mining contractors in a variety of engineering, operations and executive management positions. Mr. Humphrey is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.

Mr. James Hesketh has over 25 years of experience in mine operations, engineering and mining finance. He is currently President of Kalex Incorporated, a strategic and management consulting firm, and has served as a non-executive director to TSX-listed Atna Resources (ATN) since 2001. Mr. Hesketh also served as President and CEO of Scorpio Mining Corporation (TSXV:SPM), and was Vice President of RMB Resources, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Rand Bank of South Africa, providing quasi debt/equity financing to the junior mining sector. He has worked at NM Rothschild & Sons providing senior debt lending and hedging facilities to public and private mining companies throughout the Americas. Mr. Hesketh has a B.Sc in Mining Engineering and a Master of Science in Mineral Economics, both from the Colorado School of Mines. He is a member of the Society of Mining Engineers of AIME, a member of CIMM and a nonactive P. Eng in Nova Scotia, Canada.
